Where to Eat Paella in Barcelona

The paella is probably the most famous Spanish dish in the world. Of Valencian origin, its name comes directly from the large pan in which it is prepared. Where to eat a good paella in Barcelona?

The Ramblas and the Passeig de Joan of Borbó, in the Barceloneta, win the biggest number of “catcher-tourist” restaurants serving the paella. One tip: avoid them because it is very likely that the value for money is bad. Many tourists are disappointed in front of their “paella” made up solely of rice and some frozen seafood that fight in duel.

Restaurant 7 doors: the most authentic

7 doors is an emblematic restaurant in Barcelona. Inaugurated in 1836, it has already regaled the greatest. The decor is old and authentic. The prices are a bit higher than average but the setting and quality of the food are worth it.

Restaurant Xiringuito Escribà : the most specialized

You will see paellas in all the restaurants for tourists. These often display a map in several languages ​​and use pullers to attract the customer.

The Escribà are very famous in the world of gastronomy in Barcelona. They possess the magnificent Escribà patisserie of the Ramblas. The desserts you will eat in the Xiringuito Escribà, one of the most popular seafood restaurants of the Catalans, come from there.

The word “xiringuito” describes beach huts that can be enjoyed and eaten from April to September.

If the Xiringuito Escribà is facing the sea, it is however a real restaurant that works year-round: you lose a bit of proximity to the sea, but you gain in infrastructure and comfort. The kitchens are open on the room, so we can see the preparation of paellas live. And it puts the water in the mouth!
